Many of you know that I’m a complete wimp when it comes to riding in the inclement weather. Even though I have the best jackets and vests in the world at my fingertips, I have trouble forcing myself to ride in the rain. Well, I’m proud to say that last week I did 2 lunch rides in the drizzling rain. OK, maybe it wasn’t actually that bad, but there was a big risk of rain…ha ha. I mean, it sprinkled on me on both rides! If it wasn’t for the heckling from my follow teammates I might not have actually ventured out with them. For a wimp, this was almost a personal growth moment…ha ha. Well, I also had my trusty Hincapie Development Team vest and jacket to keep me warm and dry.

I’m totally exaggerating the weather because I found it ironic that I was sweating the drizzling rain just as the Classics season gets into full swing. This weekend was the first of a great combination of races that saw big George make the front move in Gent-Wevelgem. He took his chance and went for the win. I’m so glad to see him riding well and trying to put the hurt on those guys. He’s right where he needs to be for next weekend in the Tour of Flanders. He’ll sharpen his fitness a little this week and be right on target for some great results in Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.
